Last night, the talented cast of The Collective presented their latest production, Paradox of Love, at The Antheneum Theatre in Gqeberha. The team, made up of nine dancers and musicians, brought their A-game to the stage, delivering a performance that was both visually and emotionally stunning. The production, which explored the complexities of love, was split into two acts and showcased an array of performances that left the crowd entertained and engaged throughout.

The production started with an introduction to the paradox of love and how it can be expressed in various ways, citing examples such as the infamous feud between Biggie and 2Pac and I quote, "Biggie loved to hate 2Pac". From there, the audience was treated to a stunning spiritual dancing performance that set the tone for the rest of the show.

The intention behind the production was to bring back the arts that express more than just love. Paradox of Love explored the complex and often contradictory nature of love, delving into the different ways that love can be expressed and experienced. The team aimed to put the soul back into music, emotions, and every dance move, creating a performance that was both powerful and moving.

One of the highlights of the night was the opera singing couple who sang a beautiful love song, captivating the audience with their soulful voices. The production then transitioned into a valentine's high school love act, complemented by Mamela, a hit song by Micasa. The performance was both heartwarming and nostalgic, taking the audience back to the innocence and pure love of high school romance.

The set continued with a 10-year later grown and strong love story of the couple who started their love journey in high school. The audience was so thrilled and entertained by the sets with warm claps and ululating in between. The music selection was a perfect blend of South African and international jams that had the crowd nodding and grooving to the beat throughout the night. From the classic sounds of Jackson 5 to the popular gqom sound, the set had something for everyone.

All that incredible performance was brought to the audience by the talented cast of The Collective, which includes Tiffany East, Caeleigh Heradien, Zukiswa Mpongoshe, Robin Simon, Darren Rockman, Aiden Syce, Calan-Taryn Van Der Heerden, Durrick Munnick, and Telly Van Der Heerden. This team delivered quality and high-class performances, showcasing their incredible talent and energy. Also, the stage set-up was another stunning aspect of the show, as it changed frequently and seamlessly, keeping the audience engaged and entertained.

The second act of the production, which was the last part of it opened with a beautiful vocal musical followed by a captivating Halo dance by Darren and Robyn. The rest of the act was a beautiful karaoke-style performance with the team performing the best love songs of all time. The audience was taken down memory lane with popular old-school love jams from Alicia Keys and All 4 One, among others.

Other than that, the talented cast of The Collective did an outstanding job of exploring the complexities of love, bringing the audience along for a powerful and moving journey. We can't wait to see what they have in store for us next!!!
