Gqeberha, Eastern Cape - The students of The Media Workshop, a MICTSeta funded training provider that offers media related studies, recently concluded a 12-month funded learnership in Film and Television Production. A diverse group of 27 students, who are now well equipped with media industry skills, are now ready for the field and will be hosting a screening event to showcase the work they have achieved over the period.
The National Certificate in Film and Television (NQF5) qualification acquired by these students offers them a great chance to further their studies in their respective and desired fields and/or to find jobs in the industry, as they are well trained in cinematography, producing, lighting, directing, and editing to name a few.
The screening’s unique collection of productions include:
- Tiktok videos
- PSA’s (Public Service Announcements) on GBV, Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Cyberbullying etc.
- Music videos and
- Short Films
The screening event is organized by the students in association with the institution, The Media Workshop and other relevant stakeholders, and will be held at 32 Bird Street, Central, Gqeberha on Friday, 07th July 2023, split in two sessions between 10:00 - 15:00.
The first session, from 10:00 – 12:00, is designed to accommodate alumni of the institution, industry experts, and media houses.
Q&A, meet-and-greet and photos will be taken at the end of the session. The second session, from 13:00 – 15:00, will accommodate the public, prospective students, friends, and parents.
This event is aimed at inspiring school leavers who intend on joining the media industry, connect industry experts with the students and most importantly assist with opportunities in the industry.
