Meet Niel Mouton, the Founder and Director of Boast Events. Born and raised in the vibrant city of Gqeberha - formerly known as Port Elizabeth, Niel's passion for his hometown is unmatched. In the last two years, his event organizing endeavours have taken him across South Africa, collaborating with prestigious brands. Yet, it is the allure of Gqeberha that consistently draws him back, driven by a profound belief in the city's potential for an explosive growth in 2024.
His extensive experience in the hospitality and eventing realm spans over a decade, commencing with his humble beginnings in a hospitality school, where he was taught everything from making beds, preparing dinner services, mixing cocktails to cleaning restrooms. His foundational years encompassing tasks from housekeeping at the Radisson Blu Hotel to managing audio-visual setups in Gqeberha and the Western Cape, laid the groundwork for the establishment of his company, Boast Events. Embarking on his entrepreneurial path before the pandemic, Niel's role as a venue manager for a prominent wedding venue in Gqeberha led to the inception of Boast Events during lockdown in 2020.
Fuelled by necessity, his diverse background in eventing disciplines sets him apart, allowing him to visualize the entire event landscape, a perspective that distinguishes his company in the bustling events industry.
Boast Events positions itself as an A-to-Z solution for eventing, prioritising problem-solving at its core. Niel believes that having worked in various disciplines within the industry let’s him better understand his clients needs and enables Boast Events to provide a service that stands out from the often times noisy landscape of eventing. Collaborating closely with exceptional suppliers, Niel values the interpersonal relationships cultivated, creating a foundation for seamless event execution.
Witnessing the transformation of spaces is what Niel treasures, exemplified by Boast Events' collaboration with SPAR Eastern Cape. Beyond the glitz of glamorous events, the highlight lies in the refurbishment of the children's testifying rooms at the high court in Gqeberha. Working alongside an interior designer, Boast Events provided comfort and peace to those in need, leaving a lasting impact.
In 2023, their collaboration with L'Oreal Paris showcased international hospitality, reinforcing their commitment to excellence. Recognition soon followed with winning the award for Event Organiser of the year at the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Event Awards, propelling Boast Events to continue its trajectory of success.
This remarkable entrepreneur’s commitment extends beyond business success. He emphasizes the importance of having a personal hustle for young entrepreneurs, advocating action, pursuing passions fearlessly, and embracing a continuous learning mindset. His aspiration is to become a guiding figure for the next generation, providing the support he wished for in his early entrepreneurial journey.
His enthusiasm for new experiences fuels Boast Events' forward momentum. From travel to culinary adventures, he seeks inspiration to craft outstanding events. While acknowledging the challenges of work-life balance, Niel emphasizes the importance of energy management, a crucial aspect in running a successful company.
As the new year begins, Boast Events remains committed to progress, eager to explore new avenues and challenge the boundaries of Gqeberha's eventing landscape. Their vision includes collaborating with brands unafraid of the unconventional, ready to embark on unexpected and innovative ventures.
