Softvideo Productions and Nu Metro Cinemas are proud to announce that The Menzi Ngubane Film Festival will take place at selected Nu Metro cinemas nationwide from Friday, 2 September, until Sunday, 4 September 2022.

The festival includes the first ever screenings of the highly anticipated documentary film, NGUBS – THE LIFE AND TIMES OF MENZI NGUBANE. In honour of the acting legend, Menzi Ngubane, the action-packed drama, HOW TO STEAL 2 MILLION, and the unreleased, RED CARGO, reminiscent of its making are also included on the festival line- up.

“The documentary feature film in honor of Menzi Ngubane’s legacy is to remind the world that there was once a lion roaming South African households as actor, entertainer, family man, son, friend, and brother. It is only befitting that we celebrate the timeless work of artists who have shaped the local artistic and cultural landscape. Menzi Ngubane's name is included and remembered on that list of luminaries and Nu Metro is honored and proud to be the host of this auspicious film festival in our cinemas. Speaking about the work that it has taken to put the NGUBS documentary feature together, Mme Sikelelwa Ngubane, wife of the late Menzi Ngubane, said it has been a labour of love. “We managed to get together a team of people who absolutely love Somahashi’s story. Watching it all come together has been quite an emotional journey, as we started out with nothing but an idea. So, for us to be where we are today is really testament to the power of collaboration and certainly uMbovu himself opening all closed doors for us.”
