Linomtha Gitywa is a young performer, musician, and drama artist who recently won a radio competition. Born and raised in Gqeberha, South Africa, Linomtha identifies as a transwoman of color, and she is passionate about representing the queer community in the media space.

Although she never had a love for radio, Linomtha's grandmother would listen to Umhlobo weNene radio station religiously, which sparked her interest in the medium. When asked about her favorite radio presenter, Linomtha admits she hardly listens to radio but admires Bonang Matheba's iconic status.

Linomtha recently started co-hosting her own show called the Diba drive with Naledi and Vuyo. The show features fire music, interesting topics, great conversations, and interviews. When asked which big radio station she would love to end up on, Linomtha mentioned Metro FM, but her ultimate goal is to create her own podcasts and media projects.

As a transwoman of color, Linomtha is determined to break down stereotypes and provide representation for the queer community in the media space. She wants young queer kids to see that someone who looks like them can achieve great things and that transwomen are women.

Linomtha's message to other young people is to follow their passions and dreams, no matter what anyone else thinks. She wants to show the world that being a queer person of color is something to be celebrated and embraced, not feared or eradicated. Linomtha is here to stay, and she's making her mark in the media space, one project at a time.

The search for a Madibaz radio presenter turned out to be an excellent opportunity for Linomtha, providing her with valuable radio experience and helping to introduce the station to the youth of Nelson Mandela University. The station's producers are committed to delivering top-quality content and building strong relationships that support their mission. As a publication, we are thrilled to have been a part of this initiative and are excited to continue our collaboration with Madibaz in the future.
