The mobile clinic was started by Vuyokazi Mbanjwa who is a registered nurse who obtained her qualification from Ilitha Nursing College. The result of having been raised in New Brighton helped open her eyes to the health issues that are faced by the community. This combined with her passion for the wellbeing of others are her motivators and driving force behind the mobile clinic.

The vision of the mobile clinic is to not only provide basic healthcare but to assist the young and old, the pregnant and the working class mothers who do not have the luxury of taking time off from work to take their children for treatment. This is what separates Mbanjwa Healthcare from the local healthcare service providers, is that they provide convenience at an affordable cost.

The current healthcare system within the communities of Kwazakhele and New Brighton have often faced negative feedback when it comes to service delivery and staff attitudes and actions. The Mbanjwa mobile clinic will change this by providing efficient service, avoid the frustrations that come with standing in long lines in order to be assisted and even extend working hours in order to better assist the working class which fall part of the mobile clinic’s target audience. This is one of the unique factors of the mobile clinic alongside its affordability.

The informing of young women about their changing bodies during the puberty stages and the teaching of family planning to those hoping to start families is another goal of the founder of the clinic. It has been proven that the spread of false health information
can have severe consequences besides ignorance. This is an issue that will be tackled through a number of initiatives from wellness days and social media engagement.

Mbanjwa Healthcare Services offers quality healthcare, convenience and is tailored to suit each individual that is living in communities that solely rely on their local clinics for healthcare. The expansion of the clinic is a top priority for Vuyokazi and her long-term vision is to see the clinic expanded to other areas besides Kwazakhele. This is an initiative that portrays her as our local Florence Nightingale.
