Gqeberha, Eastern Cape - The days of internet connectivity being a luxury have long passed. Internet connectivity has become a necessity in order to complete tasks such as studying or job seeking. This has made life a little difficult for those who do not easily have access to an internet service. This is an issue that Makhanda-based entrepreneur Khaya Tantsi aims to solve with his company KhulaTech Solutions which is an internet
service provider.

The company which was established in 2014 but officially began operations in 2019 has embarked on its goals of providing connectivity to areas which can be seen as less developed urban areas. They have taken steps to accomplish their goal of providing internet connectivity to these designated areas by thus far connecting 30 schools in Makhanda and three schools within the Motherwell area in
Gqeberha.

This goal was sparked by their success in 2020 when Covid-19 had just started to put people’s lives on halt. They were able to provide connectivity services so teachers would still be able to reach and educate their pupils. This was a much-needed service as most pupils were being home-schooled during that time.

Khaya who has a diploma in ICT engineering and further qualifications in project management, IT management amongst other qualifications. He is skilled in network and planning operations alongside team management. Khaya was named one of the three recipients of the top business presentation commendations at the inaugural Tech Entrepreneurship Experience.

Khaya has gone on to state when asked about his motivation behind providing internet connectivity that he aims to ‘’connect the previously forgotten’’. These would be individuals who fall within the LSM demographic as they have been the first to receive connectivity that is provided by KhulaTech in less developed areas.
