Gqeberha, October 6th, 2023 - The Madibaz Radio team, nestled within the heart of Nelson Mandela University (NMU), hosted an enchanting and unforgettable night at the Madibaz Radio Awards 2023. This annual tradition is a cherished occasion where the Madibaz Radio family gathers to reflect on their journey, celebrate growth, acknowledge achievements, and welcome new talents into their vibrant fold.

Despite the rainy weather in Gqeberha, the Madibaz Radio Awards embraced a Hollywood night theme, with attendees donning their most glamorous and stunning attire. It was a testament to the unwavering spirit of the young, creative minds in the NMU music and media industry who refused to let a little rain dampen their enthusiasm. Among the distinguished audience were notable figures such as Madibaz Radio station manager Sade Prinsloo, Max Sotshongaye from UMHLOBO WENENE FM, Nandipha from Barberland, and the Konvenient Magazine team. These individuals and stakeholders have played pivotal roles in the station's success throughout the year in various capacities.

The evening was skillfully orchestrated by Sindiswa Mangxila and Simtembile Nongauza, both hosts and integral parts of the Madibaz Radio team. Their energy and engaging presence kept the audience eagerly anticipating each segment of the night. It was evident that they approached their roles with confidence and teamwork, mirroring the synergy that defines the station's broadcasts.

As a guest speaker, Sanele Nongauza, an NMU alumnus and sports presenter for TRU FM, delivered a thought-provoking 15-minute talk centered on the theme of passion. He encouraged the Madibaz Radio team to be passionate about radio and lauded their current achievements. In his closing remarks, he expressed his optimism about seeing Madibaz Radio presenters on major platforms like TRU FM in the future, a sentiment echoed by many in attendance.

The event featured impeccable music selections and live performances from some of the university's music students, including Thembe, Oceana Petrus, and Ikamva. Their performances resonated with the audience, leaving no doubt that these musicians have a bright future in the South African music industry.

During the gathering, a poignant moment of the evening was dedicated to the memory of Athenkosi Bonga Mali, a talented member of the Madibaz Radio team who had recently passed away. The heartfelt tribute, led by Sindi's beautiful singing, paid homage to Athenkosi's lasting impact through his work ethic.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the celebration of award winners. The atmosphere was electric as cheers and applause filled the room for those who received awards. The station's management, who served as award presenters, offered motivational words, fostering a sense of unity and teamwork among the Madibaz Radio family.
