It was a gorgeous Friday morning with fresh ocean breeze at 2nd Avenue Summerstrand when Brown's PR introduced local media houses to Café La Mare, a cozy and relaxed new restaurant in the heart of Nelson Mandela Bay.
Cafe La Mare is a hidden gem located in the Bella Mare Complex near the Boardwalk, offering a delightful culinary experience with stunning views of modern designs apartments and outdoor pool. The cafe is a great place to relax, catch up with friends or family, and enjoy a delicious meal.
Upon entering the cafe, you are greeted by a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. With nice tables and chairs, and large windows providing plenty of natural light, the decor is simple yet elegant. Additionally, the café offers two boardrooms for those who need a place to work while they eat.
The menu at Cafe La Mare offers a wide variety of dishes, ranging from classic breakfast options to fresh seafood and salads. One of their signature dishes is the Grilled Octopus, which is perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The Avocado Toast is also a must-try, served on artisanal bread with a poached egg on top, and this breakie was my favourite on the menu served earlier.
Owner Ricky Friedman and his business partner Eddie Raff were delighted to host the guests and spoke about who they are and what the restaurant and complex offer, as well as what they are doing to ensure the space does not compete with Boardwalk, but complements it instead. The country offers lots of opportunities, Eddie said when discussing investing in it. "Some people see many problems in South Africa, I see opportunities," he said.
The service at Cafe La Mare is exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff who make sure that every customer is satisfied with their experience. The prices are also reasonable, considering the quality of the food and service.
